Americans in constant pain!
Today was the end of the blackest most heartbreaking years of my life. In March 2020 my favorite uncle committed suicide and my life proceeded to get more depressing with each crisis that came and they have kept coming since 2020..almost non-stop. We have to face that America is going down a dark road in so many ways. Our health care system is probably not what people think is very important but when you lose a loved one because of terrible healthcare laws then it becomes more of an interest.
I'll explain, my uncle Jeff was plagued with crippling back pain from years of working at a steel mill here where my family lived in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately like most steel workers of that time he also used to drink a lot to take that pain awAy. In 2010 he was in his 60's, wanting to get rid of this pain as it had become unbearable. His doctor referred him to pain management. After being stabilized on a safe dose of medication he started to live again. I was so happy because after years of depression he went back to work in the antique business something that was always a hobby of his. It was like he was 30 years old again and much like the uncle i had grown up with. His drinking completely stopped and I know this because he took drug/alcohol tests at his doctor and he and I were very close. After all hospitals and doctor's offices started using a universal computer system the pain management doc found out he had been in the hospital(many years ago mind you!) he was detoxed immediately in our local hospital. They said because of his for addiction he could not seem pain management...ever. Well needless to say the pain came back and he started drinking to dull the pain. His depression was back full force and he rarely left his home. One month later my ex husband found him dead from his rifle by his own hand.
I looked around online and saw that there are many people who have diagnosed pain and can't get anything for it and also get labelled an addict on top of it. The fact that the DEA is allowed to keep Americans from getting medication they need is wrong! Our health care system would rather people go for from fentynal. I've lost at least 30 people I went to school with from street fetynal. Most of those people had untreated illnesses that their doctor's ignored. I guess everyone will have to lose someone before they care.
